Traditional Matcha Bowl Pottery Class

Come make your own matcha bowl with us no prior pottery experience necessary! If you love matcha, tea or pottery this is a wonderful way to make your tea rituals more meaningful by crafting your own matcha bowl! In our 2.5 hour workshop, we will start by preparing and sharing a bowl of organic matcha together. Then we will guide you through hand building and decorating your own traditional matcha bowl out of clay using Japanese pottery techniques. You will learn how to shape the clay, carve the bottom to create a foot, shape the spout and use kurinuki to carve decorations onto the bowl. Afterwards we will glaze and fire it for you and you can pick it up in 2-3 weeks, ready for use! Note: If you have very long nails it will be more difficult to do this handbuilding workshop.
